Billiam Moore, 51, of Cary, passed on Tuesday morning April 5th after a 2 year battle with brain cancer. Billiam inspired his friends and family with his courage and loving disposition right to the end.

Born in Folsom, California, Billiam was one of four children (and only son) born to Dr. James P. Moore and Margaret M Moore. The family moved back to Niagara Falls, NY, the hometown of both parents in 1968. Billiam attended high school at Calasanctius Preparatory School in Buffalo, NY where he made lifelong friends.

He then went to University of Rochester, obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science in 1986. He continued to work in the Information Technology field for the rest of his career.

He started work as the sole member of the IT department of a small accounting firm in Niagara Falls. During that time he took part in an a capella singing group known as the Rainbow Singers and enjoyed hiking in Western New York, including along the Niagara River Gorge.

In 1996, he moved to the Raleigh, NC area to join a number of friends and enjoy warmer weather. He first worked for a start-up, HealthPoint and its successors, in the medical information field where he was fondly known as Merlin, the man who “could fix anything”. For the last 10 years he worked for the North Carolina State Employees’ Credit Union where he contributed to many projects. Although he was very good at his work, the center of his life was enjoying time with friends and concerts at Koka Booth and other venues. He was always willing to help a friend.

Billiam is survived by his mother Margaret Moore of Tucson, AZ, father and step-mother James P. and Phyllis Moore of Lewiston, NY, sister and brother-in-law Beth and Umberto Pascali of Ashburn, VA, sister Anne Moore of North Liberty, IA, sister and brother-in-law Cathleen Moore and Toby Mordkoff, niece Mairead Moore and nephew Kieran Moore of Iowa City, IA. He also leaves 3 step-sisters and a step-brother, 7 step-nephews, 1 step-niece, and myriad aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Billiam’s life will be held at the Page-Walker Arts and History Center in Cary on Saturday April 16th from 11 am to 1pm followed by a reception at Brewster’s Pub (1885 Lake Pine Dr, Cary) at 2 to 5 pm.
