William A. Evans Obituary

Niagara Falls, New York - William (Al) Albert Evans, age 88, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed peacefully on March 27, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Evans.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Clarence Evans and Lena Jacobs.

William proudly served in the United States Navy from 1955 - 1958. He worked as a bread delivery man, often finding himself at Great Bear Market, where he met Shirley Ann Whitcomb. They were united in marriage on July 23, 1960. He went on to dedicate 44 years of loyal service to Tops, Inc., retiring September 4, 1989.

He was known for being smart, kind, and funny, as well as one of the hardest working men you could meet. He was loyal and honest, the kind of person his family could always count on. He loved his wife deeply and remained devoted to her throughout his life.

He had a love for music, animals, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and riddles, playing cards, and sharing his love of magic with those around him. More than anything, he loved his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Survived by his four children, Sheila Evans, Glenn Evans (Rajitha), Sherri Batterson, and Gregory Evans; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren whom he loved very much; his sister, Cynthia Bowe.

He is predeceased by his sister Norma Clements, and David Jacobs.

Visitation Thursday from 4-7 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Private services will be held. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery
