Hernando, FL - Wilfred Provencher passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, in Lecanto, FL after a long and wonderful life at the age of 87. He was born in Massena, NY on March 26, 1939, and moved to Niagara Fall, NY in 1957, and retired to Hernando, FL in 1998.


He was predeceased by his parents Joseph Robert and Elizabeth Provencher, brothers, Richard, Glenn, and John, along with sisters Linda Hartley, Jeanette Martinez, & Jean Hewey.


He is survived by his beloved wife Claire (Laplante) of 63 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary-Ellen (Joe) Moorhouse and granddaughter, Theresa White; sisters, Ruth Gaines, Norfolk, NY, and Terrie (Patrick) White, Niagara Falls, NY; brother-in laws, Bernard & Claude Laplante, sister-in-law Murielle Heath, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews.


Before retiring, he worked at Oxy (former Hooker Chemical Company) as Shift Supervisor for 33 years and Pete Mascaro Construction for many years. He was also in the Army Reserve.


He enjoyed hunting at his cabin and was an avid fisherman and golfer. He enjoyed traveling and cruising.


He was an active member of the Town of Niagara Lions Club for 24 years, and a Knight of Columbus in Lecanto, FL. He also volunteered for the Citrus County Sheriffs for 25 plus years. He was a parishioner of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church, Lecanto, FL, where he served as an usher.


Burial will be at the family's discretion.
