Thelma M. Quaranta, age 97 of Batavia/Holley, died October 11, 2020 in the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home following a long illness. She was born November 9, 1922 in Holley to Charles and Hilda (Green) Gaines and been a resident of Niagara Falls, Clarendon/Holley, Batavia and Florida throughout her lifetime.
Thelma was a Holley High School graduate, and was a former member of Holy Family Parish in Niagara Falls. She worked during the war at Bell Aircraft as well as at Sears and Roebuck Company. Thelma loved the sunshine which would explain her special affinity for living in/visiting Florida.
Mrs. Quaranta was predeceased by her husband, Michael Nicholas Quaranta; her parents, Charles and Hilda Gaines; and her brothers, Donald and Irving Gaines. She is survived by her son, Ronald (Roxane Vanelli) Quaranta of Batavia; three grandchildren, Christopher John Quaranta, Elizabeth (James) Shannon, Timothy Charles Quaranta; her great-grandchildren, James Lee (Madison) Shannon, Patrick Shannon, Ryan Shannon; two great-great-grandchildren, Oliver and Violet; a sister-in-law, Constance Gaines; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc., 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, Thursday, October 22nd from 2-5 PM where her Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 23rd beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery. Please note the Funeral Home will be operating at 33% capacity per state guidelines. New York State requires those in attendance to adhere to the social distancing guidelines and face coverings are mandatory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
