Norma L. Brascoupe Obituary
Sanborn, NY - Of the Tuscarora Nation, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026.
A member of the Bear Clan, she was born on the Tuscarora Nation, on November 11, 1926, a daughter of the late Myron and Sarah [Doctor] Patterson.
Mrs. Brascoupe was a PTA Mom and a Sunday School teacher.
She carried wisdom and knowledge of the history of Tuscarora. Her memory sharp and always a willingness to share some tea and time.
Her favorite time was with her family. She was a dedicated PTA volunteer for all her six children, a skilled beader, seamstress and gardener.
She was lovingly cared for by her niece Judy Patterson and more recently Sue Schiffert.
Mrs. Brascoupe was the wife of 57 years, to the late Simon Brascoupe, who passed away in May of 2004.
She is survived by her children Simon (Carol), Clayton (Margaret), Isaac (Rita) Brascoupe, Edna Mae (Herbert) Irving and Wanda (Mark Kennedy) Brascoupe, grandson Elijah Szafran, a daughter-in-law Rose-Ann Morris, her sister Ida Seeloff, 40 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brascoupe was the mother of the late Patrick Brascoupe, sister of the late Percy Patterson, Ellen Jacobs, Elsie Printup, Lenora Rickard, Edna Groat and George Patterson
Her family will be present on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 from 3-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist, 2208 Mount Hope Road, with the Rev. Walter A. Printup, III, officiating.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Tuscarora Baptist Church.
Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery.
