Niagara Falls, NY - Mary (DerOhanessian) Sanders, 87, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on June 5, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born on August 19, 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Hovnan and Virginia (Amerian) DerOhanessian and the wife of the late Kent H. Sanders.

Mary graduated from Niagara Falls High School and attended Niagara County Community College. She was employed by the former Bell Aerospace, worked as a waitress for several restaurants and retired from Niagara County Department of Social Services. Mary was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed taking spontaneous trips, including to Alaska, Oregon and Nova Scotia and was able to see the Redwoods and Crater Lake. Mary also was proud of her Armenian Heritage. She loved dancing overall, as well as dancing at Armenian picnics and outdoor concerts and even learned to belly dance. Above all else, Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by children, Mark Sanders and Christine (Phillip) Chase; grandchildren, Aiden, Andrew and Alexander; her twin sister, Virginia (late Frank) DiMeo and nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

Family and friends are invited to attend Mary's funeral service on Friday, June 13th, at 12:00 p.m., in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 140 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Canon Helen Harper and Deacon Patrick Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice and/or the Alzheimer's Association.
