Mario A. Ricotta, 97, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Abruzzi, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Filice and Margareta (Forgione) Ricotta; and the beloved husband of the late Anne (Butera) Ricotta, who he married on July 21, 1951 at St. Joseph's Church.
Mario moved to Niagara Falls with his family as an infant. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II, earning the American Theatre, Asiatic-Pacific, and Victory Medals for his service.
Mario had a long and dedicated career, beginning at Kimberly Clark for over 23 years and later with the Board of Education as a Stationary Engineer for 20 years until his retirement. He was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his own plane for many years. A devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, Mario was the former President of the Holy Name Society and a dedicated member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Mario cherished time spent with his family and found joy in playing cards and bocce. He is survived by his sister, Jean (Albert) Marra, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony (Gloria) Ricotta and Frank (Joanne) Ricotta.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 12, from 4 - 8 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 10:15 AM, followed by Mario's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
