Julia T. Jowdy (Rashid) a remarkable woman whose life spanned 95 years. Born in Lawrence, MA to Fred and Anne Rashid on July 9, 1927 and died on July 25, 2022 in Walland, TN. Married to Samuel J. Jowdy in 1954, they made their home in Ransomville, New York.

Julia was dedicated to raising her family, helping her husband and friends. She was an excellent cook, specializing in Lebanese dishes and hosting many family holiday dinners. There was always a family vegetable garden and over the years Julia canned hundreds of jars of vegetables and fruit.

Julia was involved in Cedars Club and an avid member of the YMCA playing racquet ball, volleyball and swimming making dear friends well into her 60's.

In 2003, she continued her love of family and friends when she moved to Twin Valley Ranch in Walland, TN and became a cowgirl driving her "mule"; up at dawn to feed the horses & critters on her daughter's ranch, welcoming guests with a smile, a surrogate grandmother for countless children.

Julia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a long time parishioner of St. Peters, Lewiston, NY.

In addition to parents, husband and son, Julia is predeceased by siblings, Richard, Joe, Fred, Nellie Rashid and Madeline Stewart. Survived by daughters, Mary Whitman (Michael), Teresa Bilowus (Michael), Janice Tipton (Kenneth), Joyce Jowdy, grandchildren Rachelle Brunette (Charles), Luke Bilowus (Brittany), and Marcus and Jesse Bilowus, and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-6PM Friday, July 29th at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour, TN. A celebration of life service will follow at 6PM.
