Niagara Falls, NY - Jean (John) Adjemian, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. He was a prime example of an immigrant pursuing the American dream. In 1950 he emigrated from Marseille, France to live in Niagara Falls, NY. He worked at the International Paper Mill for 12 years.

His first wife, Arpena, encouraged him to further his education and he agreed. He received his GED, then completed his Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Buffalo, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He was grateful for the opportunity to become an English and French professor at Niagara County Community College for 30 years, and was awarded professor emeritus status.

John will be long remembered for his unwavering determination to succeed against all odds and for his love of family and friends. He was very proud of his Armenian heritage and extremely proud to become an American citizen for his incredible life's journey that he worked so hard for.

John was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Arpena Adjemian, his son Gary and his sister Yvonne Gulian.

John is survived by his wife, Ophelia Adjemian; two daughters, Patricia (Charles) Belfatto of Wilmington, DE and Claudia (Michael) Petrosian of Lewiston, NY and Estero, FL; three grandchildren, Trisha, Michael and Matthew. He is also survived by his stepchildren, nieces and nephews.
