Niagara Falls, NY - James Douglas of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on November 29 at age 89. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years Yvonne Maxine (Tücher) Douglas and is survived by seven children: James (Debbie) Douglas, Patrick (Mel) Douglas, Mike (Roxanne) Douglas, Colleen (Jeff) Eddy, Thomas (Norene) Douglas, Mary (Jim) Jensen and David Douglas, along with 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

"Jimmy" was the most outgoing character, always the center of attention and the life of the party, with a charming, gregarious nature and an unending supply of jokes and pranks that could disarm even the most severe cynics.

He was a bit of a daredevil in his youth, learning to fly planes and perform mind boggling tricks on water skis, which got him profiled in the newspaper a number of times for skiing barefoot on the Niagara River, once even in the middle of winter.

When his children were young he was very active in the Boy Scouts of America and later turned to sailing, becoming an accomplished racer on his boat "Doug's Lass."

A 1954 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School, most of his professional career was with Moore Business Forms.

In later years he and his wife Yvonne spent much of the year at their cottage in Little Valley, NY lovingly called "Camp Run-a-Muk".

James was incredibly strong, but his physical body began to weaken over the past two years, though his mind was as sharp as ever. For the final nine months he endured quite a few difficult medical issues but remained optimistic through the very end.

His family is sad to lose its beloved patriarch but grateful that his pain has ceased. His final moments were spent with family, with son Tommy holding his hand and playing "Danny Boy" as James once again took to the airplane cockpit of his youth and "slipped the surly bonds of Earth, and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings."
