Niagara Falls, NY - Gloria Y. Fields entered into eternal rest to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025. She was born on September 10, 1945, in Niagara Falls, New York to the late Willie C. Fields, Sr., and Doris Davis Fields and was the oldest of five children.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, Gloria was a 1963 graduate of Madonna High School. She graduated from Wilberforce University with a B.A. in psychology in 1967.
Gloria spent the majority of her career in the travel industry, most notably in sales and promotions of tourism for Niagara Falls, New York. She devoted over forty years dazzling tourists with her vast knowledge of Niagara Falls (New York and Canada) while working for Niagara Majestic Tours and Gray Line Niagara Falls. During the earlier years of her employment with Gray Line, Gloria would manage the Niagara Falls travel and information center in picturesque borough of Tioga, Pennsylvania, then would reside in Niagara Falls, NY in the offseason.
Gloria loved the travel and tourism industry and was once recognized as one of the five most outstanding travel agents in the United States, and as such was awarded a trip to Senegal and Gambia, West Africa to do an analytical study on tourism activity as it related to the writing of Alex Haley's book "Roots". Her civic interests included the Niagara Falls Human Rights Commission, and the Niagara Falls Community Center. She was a member of the March of Dimes, Niagara County and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she pledged as an undergraduate.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth (Fields) Bradley.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sons, James (Mary) Hill, III, and Dr. Brian Hill, Sr. of Homewood, IL, a special friend Leroy Israel Sr., of Spencerville, Maryland. She also leaves to her legacy seven grandchildren, Chrisheena Hill, Buffalo, NY, James Hill IV, Homewood, IL, Brian (Margaret) Hill, Jr., Chicago, IL, Jacqueline Hill, Chicago, IL, Lauren Hill, Joliet, IL, Ashley (Derek) McDaniels, Baltimore, MD, Matthew Dieudonne, Chicago, IL, four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Fizer, Christian Hill, Laurence Williams, Vivienne Hill. She is also survived by her siblings Deloris Fields, Willie C. Fields, Jr., and Annie (Fields) Chapman, her brother-in-law Robert L. Bradley, Jr., as well as a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 PM on July 26, 2025at Niagara Falls Convention Center, 101 Old Falls Street.
