Gary W. Hacker Obituary

Gary W. Hacker died peacefully with his family by his side on October 27, 2016 at Eastern Niagara Hospital.He was born January 26, 1936 in Warrendale, PA. He was the son of the late Henry and Beatrice (Seybert) Hacker.

He attended local schools in Warrendale, PA until the family moved to Wilson, NY where he attended Wilson Central Highschool. He then joined the Navy from 1952-1954. He later attended Niagara County Community College and Empire State College.Gary married Judith Hurst on December 1, 1956. Gary started his career at the Niagara County Sheriff's department as a patrolman and then worked his way up to various positions such as Chief of Detectives, narcotics squad, SWAT team, he developed and ran the Welfare Fraud Division. When he retired he was running the police academy at Niagara County Community College. After retiring from the Sheriff's department, he became a fishing charter captain and owned and operated Fisherman's Choice. Gary had many interests including a karate studio he ran on Main Street in Wilson, woodworking, carpentry and hand making bows. He was also an excellent marksman winning many awards.

Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith; his children, Gary Hacker, Jr. of Paradise, CA, Kelly Amodio of Wilson, Tracy (Stephen) Wodjeski of Wheatfield, Heather Boyle of Wilson, Bridget Stopa of Middleport and Joseph (late Candance) of Sattelite Beach Florida; a brother, Ronald (Suanne) Hacker of North Tonawanda. Predeceased by his sister, Carol McCarthy; and stepfather, Ralph Truesdell. Also survived by eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on November 1, 2016 from 2-7 PM at Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson, NY with a memorial service with military honors immediately following.
