North Tonawada, NY - Donna June (Sherwood) Valery passed peacefully at 91 years old after a brief stay at Niagara Hospice House on May 1, 2026, what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary with her predeceased husband John Valery. Donna is survived by her daughter Kerry Valery (Robert Pendrake), grandson Joe (Maria) Evans and her great-grandchildren, numerous nephews & nieces, grandnephews & nieces. Special appreciation for the support given throughout her life to nieces Nancy O'Neil, Karen (Sherwood) Palistrant, Angela Marcolini, Donna (& Greg) Schuey, and longtime family friend Darlene Petschke. Donna is predeceased by her daughter Vicki (Valery) Evans, granddaughters Rebecca and Kristina Evans, and son Jeffrey Valery.

Donna grew up in Sanborn, NY the youngest of 7 siblings and was a North Tonawanda HS graduate (1951) where she excelled in her studies and twirled a baton for the marching band. After marrying in 1954, in addition to having a family and being a homemaker, she held several part-time jobs until she found her place doing tax preparation for many years.

Her boundless energy, sense of humor and straight forward personality was with her to the end. Over her 9 decades, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling (she was proud to have visited every state except Hawaii!), casino play, hummingbird watching, ceramics, square dancing, piano, and golfing. In the most recent decade, she became a Bills fan and loved horse racing (frequently picking the winner!).

She was an avid reader, daily Wordler and crossword puzzle extraordinaire. She loved a challenging cribbage game, being the first to guess the Wheel of Fortune phrase and would always win at Scrabble.

Donna was always up for a party and loved making Halloween costumes, often taking 1st prize. Her heart found a way to shine bright despite the obstacles she faced during her lifetime. One of her greatest joys was being "GiGi" to her great-grandchildren. Her friendships were sincere and a large, blessed part of her life. The family thanks each and everyone of you for keeping Donna close.
