Niagara Falls, NY - Donald E. Steele, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Niagara Hospice.

He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on December 20, 1935, the son of the late Donald E. and Margaret A. (Snyder) Steele, Sr.

Donald graduated from local schools.

After serving in the Army, he went on to be an engineer for Conrail for whom he worked for over 35 years until retiring in 1998.

Donald is remembered for being a true gentleman. He was a man of integrity and quiet strength. His unfailing devotion was to his family.

Donald married Mary Murphy of Cork, Ireland on May 11, 1963 at St. Mary of the Cataract Church in Niagara Falls. They raised three children Donald P. (Lisa) Steele, Susan J. Steele and Tara (James Keipp) Steele. He is also survived by his grandson Liam Steele.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at the wishes of his family.

Entombment with Military Honors at Gate of Heaven, Lewiston, NY.
