Donald Halstead of Newfane, NY, husband of the late Linda Franklin Halstead, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 in the Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Lockport, NY, on September 11, 1942, son of the late Alan and Edith Robinson Halstead.

Don was very well known in the farming community because of the 51 years he put into working for John Deere companies. He first worked at Karston's in Wilson, NY, then went on to C.J. Perry & Sons in Gasport, NY, and then retiring from Goodrich Farm Supply in Oakfield, NY. He was a founding member and announcer of the Niagara County Truck and Tractor Pull. He also announced for the Tractor parade for Niagara County fair. Don was a member of Community Fellowship in Johnson Creek and was very instrumental in bringing Bluegrass music into his church, which he loved very much. He loved life and had a great sense of humor.

Father of Rob (Deb) Halstead, Doug (Cindy) Halstead and the late Donna Martin; grandfather of Michael (Kalli) Halstead, Erik Martin, Brianne (Chris) Maholsic, Alyssa (Kyle) Dixon, Jillian Halstead, Katherine (Anthony) Halstead, Amanda Halstead and Cameron (Taylor) Halstead; great-grandfather of Desi, Brett, Kadence, Conner, Bentley, Easton, Logan, Paisley, Oakley, McKenna and Weston; brother of Sharon (Dan) Collopy and Sandy (George) Shaffer; brother-in-law of Marcia McClelland. Also survived by dear friend, Kathy Lozo and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10 AM in Community Fellowship Church, 3144 Johnson Creek Rd., Middleport, NY.
