Celia (Simone) Granto
Celia Ann (Simone) Granto, 99, of Niagara Falls, NY, now rests in the arms of the angels. She died on Sunday, February 9, 2020, surrounded by her family at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born on January 4, 1921, in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Giovanna (Fragione) Simone.
Mrs. Granto was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. She graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1939. She married Carmen Granto, Sr. on January 3, 1942, at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. He predeceased her on October 4, 1967.
She was employed at the family-owned City Market working alongside her husband for several years. After her husband's death, she worked as a floor clerk at Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital in 1980.
Celia was a member of the Women's Cristoforo Society, the Madonna Del Soccorso Society, and the Ladies of Charity for many years. In thanksgiving for the safe return of her husband from WWII, an annual elaborate St. Joseph's Table was held in her home open to the community.
She enjoyed her trips to New York City with her husband to watch the New York Yankees play and attend Broadway shows. She was extremely proud of her two children and their work in education. She loved being with her family and celebrating the many events in their lives. The family celebrates how lucky they are to have known someone who is so hard to say goodbye to, but know that they will not stay in sorrow because she is no more; rather, they will live in thankfulness that she was.
Celia was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Ann (Claude) Faiola, Pauline (Anthony) Paduano, and Victoria (Donald) Venturelli; as well as her brother, Leo (Frances) Simone. She is survived by her son, Carmen (Jeannie) Granto; her daughter, Cynthia (Vincent) Bianco; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and many devoted and loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Louis (Grace) Granto, James Granto, Frank Granto, Gordon Tolomeo (survived by wife Shirley); and sister-in-law, Rose (Anthony) Catalano.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 13 from 2-8 PM at the M.J. Cindy, Carmen & family,
Andrea and I send our condolences to you both. I remember your mom's lunch visits to the administration building. Her bringing lunch to both of you made me realize that no matter our age or position, we are always just our mom's kids. Go Bless.

Celia was a very special lady. I remember growing with Cynthia and her mother a beautiful lady. Her St. Joseph's table was always special. I am sending my love and prayers to her family. They are also special to me, even if I haven't seen them in years. All my love from Las Vegas, Connie Ciamarro Laven
