Roger W.'s Story
Roger W. Crowell went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 13, 1920 in Lodi, CA to Lee and Minnie Crowell.
He grew up in Minot, ND and received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree in 1943 from the University of North Dakota. In the same year he moved to Niagara Falls, N.Y. where he worked for the Research Department of Hooker Electrochemical Company. In 1952, he moved to Wyandotte, MI to work for the Pennsylvania Salt Company in Process Research. The company transferred him to their Chicago, IL plant to be the Assistant Manager. In 1958, he returned to Niagara Falls and worked for Kimberly Clark as supervisor of Quality Control. He remained there until the plant was closed in 1973. He married Grace Gow on August 7, 1948, who preceded him in death in 2011. They were married 63 years and their love was an example to everyone who knew them.
Roger was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niagara Falls where he served as a deacon and elder. Along with his wife, Grace they established the first Stephen's Ministry in Niagara Falls. He also regularly visited hospitals and nursing homes to pray for and encourage people. Roger was a man of prayer and faith. He prayed for his family and read his Bible every day. He lived his faith and put others before himself. He was quiet, gentle and wise. He greeted every day with joy and great hope.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Linneweh; son-in-law, Kent; two granddaughters, Olivia Puccini (Nick) and Hilary Linneweh (Jared). He also has two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Ava Grace Puccini.
Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Thursday from 12 Noon until 1 PM, where funeral services will be held at 1 PM. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery in Amherst.
