Robert Evans, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Robert and Florence (Sullivan) Evans.
Robert (Bob) was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 6, 1952, he married Beatrice A. Cataldo at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niagara Falls. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Robert entered the apprentice program of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 129 in Niagara Falls with whom he worked 40 years until retirement. He was also handy in carpentry and continued with wood crafting after retirement.
Robert was an accomplished left-handed bowler. He loved to garden, golf and travel. He emphasized the importance of family and was always there to help and support. He will be truly missed for his advice and guidance.
He is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Evans. He is survived by four children, Roberta (Dale) Smeal of Frisco, Texas, Sandy Evans, Michael Evans and John Evans, all of Niagara Falls; three grandchildren, Shannon (David) Acosta of Aubrey Texas,Terry (Becky) Camann of Buffalo and Christopher (Christina) Camann of Grand Island; three great grandchildren, Anthony, Aaron and Elise; one sister, Delores Hoelter and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Mildred (Fred) Bolender.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17th from 4 - 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls. Private interment with Military Honors will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY.
