Paul P.'s Story
Paul P. Masters, 87 of Lewiston, NY, passed away on June 4, 2017 at Elderwood at Wheatfield Health Care Facility. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late John and Antoinette Masters, and step-son of the late Catherine Masters.
Paul was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. Paul served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on November 18, 1949. On May 24,1952, he married Margaret V. 'Peggy' (Tate) Masters in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Masters predeceased him on May 27, 2012.
Paul worked at the former Pine Plaza Furniture and Levy Brothers Furniture Store in Niagara Falls. He and his wife Peggy later went on to own and operate Holiday Motel on Pine Ave. in Niagara Falls until they retired to Lewiston in 1986. Following his retirement, Paul worked for Greyhound Tours. He was actively involved with Opportunities Unlimited in Niagara County and served as a member of their Board of Directors. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved hunting, target, and bow and arrow shooting. In his leisure time, he also enjoyed golfing, but above all, Paul will be remembered for his devotion to his children.
Paul is survived by his two children, Paulette A. Masters of Lockport, NY and John J. Masters of Germantown, NY; his sister, Sharon (Bill) Foege of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother-in-law of Dorothy (late Leonard) Gravino, late Nicholas (Annette) Tate and late Anna Mae (late Earl C.) LaRocca.
Visitation will be on Thursday 5-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Friday June 9th at 11:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston, NY. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment with Military Honors will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
