Louis's Story

Louis O. Nicolette, 92, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on January 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Muraca) Nicolette.
Louis attended local schools and graduated from Trott Vocational High School. He served in the United States Army during WW II and was stationed in Europe. On April 24, 1948, he married Mary A. (Maietta) Nicolette at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Nicolette predeceased him on June 23, 2014.
Louis was employed as a rocket technician at Bell Aircraft Company, and was involved in the notable design projects of the, X-1, Minute Man, Mercury, Gemini and Lunar Landing Module. Afterwards, he went on to work for the City of Niagara Falls as a sealer of weights and measures until his retirement.
Louis was an avid bowler and participated in local Senior Men's and Father & Son Leagues. He was also a member of the Sertoma Club and Knights of Columbus Council #247, and in his leisure time enjoyed playing euchre. Lou's favorite memories were annual family vacations to Ocean Isle, NC.
Mr. Nicolette is survived by his three sons, Mark L. (Joan) Nicolette, Lawrence T. (Kathleen) Nicolette both of Lewiston and Luke A. (Toni-Jean) of Liverpool, NY; eight grandchildren, Christine, Matthew, Philip, Katie, Alan, Andrea, Michael and Luke; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was also predeceased by his brother, Frank (Marie) Nicolette.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3 - 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 7th at 10:00 AM in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Flowers are graciously declined. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
