Livio Belardi, Sr., 81 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on May 7, 2016 at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo. Born in Genzano di Roma, Italy he was the son of the late Nicola and Maria (Conti) Belardi.
Livio was raised and educated in Italy. On April 14, 1958 he married Tecla (Calandrelli) Belardi, and together immigrated to the United States to settle in Niagara Falls. For many years, Livio worked as an automotive paint and body repairman for local car dealerships and retired as a garage mechanic for the Niagara County Public Works Department in early 2000. Livio was a longtime active member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society in Niagara Falls. In his leisure time, he enjoyed working on jig saw and 3-D puzzles and tending to his garden. Livio's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family, especially his great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Livio is survived by three sons, John Belardi of Niagara Falls, Livio (Katherine) Belardi, Jr. of Wheatfield and Paul Belardi of North Tonawanda, six grandchildren, Joseph Michael, John Jr., Lindsey N. (fiancé Shayne Travers) and Taylor Belardi, Marissa and Matthew Belardi, one great-granddaughter, Layla Travers, his sister Claudia Belardi of Italy as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by a brother Oscar Belardi and sister Amelia Belardi.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 11th from 4-8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Vincent De Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 N. Military Road, Niagara Falls. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to, St. Vincent DePaul Parish or Cristoforo Colombo Society.
