Karen M. Kay, age 51, of Lewiston, died after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at her residence under the loving care of her family and Niagara Hospice. Karen was born on December 3, 1964 in Niagara Falls, NY, the daughter of Yvonne (Gunzelman) Kay-Black of Sanborn and the late James R. Kay and was a 1983 graduate of Niagara Catholic High School. She was employed as an office clerk by Tops Market in Lewiston for 15 years.
Karen loved her pet cats and dogs. She enjoyed helping others take care of and watch their pets as well. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and making those around her laugh.
She is survived by her mother, Yvonne G. (Louie) Kay-Black; two sisters, Colleen (Rick) Freeman of Visalia, CA and Barbara (Richard) Collins of Youngstown; a brother, John (Debbie) Kay of Lewiston; nieces, Heather, Hillary, and Shalina and six other nieces and nephews in California; and her dear friend and neighbor, Mary Jane Cosgrove. She was predeceased by a brother, James 'Jimbo' Kay in 2003; and a sister, Susan C. Kay.
Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Saturday, May 14th from 1 1-4 PM. Burial in Riverdale Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 or to Niagara County SPCA, 2100 Lockport Rd., Niagara Falls, NY 14304.
