June (Schuitema) Elstrodt, of the Town of Lewiston, died on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at home, with family by her side. She was 87. June was born in Whitehall, Michigan on June 12, 1930, a daughter of the late Roy and Hazel (Crispol) Schuitema.
She was educated in Michigan, moving to this area in the mid 1950's. As a young woman, she worked as a civil servant for Dougway Proving Ground, a US Army facility testing biological and chemical weapons. She also was employed by Hysen's Supply, Inc., Nitec and retired in 1992 from the E.I. DuPont Company as a Supervisor after 14 years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was a very creative lady. She also loved to travel and collect porcelain figurines.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Henry Elstrodt, in 1989; and her siblings, George, Roy, Peter Schuitema and Martin Gibbs.
June is survived by four children, Douglas J. Elstrodt of Waldorf, MD, Patricia Elstrodt of Sanborn, Marsha Elstrodt of the Town of Lewiston and Robert (Laura) Elstrodt of Rock Springs, WY; a sister, Lucille Franklin of Wadsworth, Ohio; a grandson, Ian Michael Emes of Lewiston; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where Funeral Services will be said Saturday 10 AM. The interment will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Town of Lewiston.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
