Joseph F. Rotundo, 77, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital. Born in Niagara Falls he was the son of the late Frank and Fiorina (Paonessa) Rotundo.
Joseph was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls. He attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On December 12, 1962 he married Janina S. (Kurek) Rotundo in Lockport. Joe served as the Supervisor of the Third Ward in Niagara Falls and was employed by the City of Niagara Falls as an Engineering Inspector. During the summer months he also worked for the New York State Parks Department. Joseph was a member of the former Century Club.
Joseph enjoyed jazz music and listening to Frank Sinatra. He loved playing cards especially Texas Hold 'Em poker, going to the horse racing track and was a passionate New York Yankees fan. He especially enjoyed watching his son coach basketball for Niagara County Community College and the former LaSalle High School, and will be remembered as their most "vocal fan".
In addition to his wife of fifty three years, Joe is survived by his son Frank J. Rotundo of Niagara Falls, his granddaughter Alexandrea Rotundo, his aunt Katherine Rotundo and many godchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother-in-law of Joseph and Elaine Kurek of Niagara Falls.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2nd from 2 - 6 p.m. at the
M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY followed by a service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Nowak officiating.
