Joseph Thomas Holody, Jr., 84, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 6, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Wozniak) Holody, Sr. and attended local schools.
Joseph entered the United States Coast Guard on October 9, 1952, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on November 9, 1960 as a Boatswains Mate 2nd Class/BM2. For his service to his country he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked in Maintenance at Tam Ceramics until his retirement and he was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife, Elsena (Seavui) Holody; children, Debra (Thomas) Wojtowicz, Rebecca (Robert) Hayes and Douglas (Rebecca) Holody; four grandchildren, Adam Holody, Amanda (Ryan) Schaal, Jessica Wojtowicz and Brian (Kirsten) Wojtowicz; two great-grandchildren, Carter J. Schaal and Georgia Wojtowicz. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Frederick 'Fritz' (Philomena) Holody.
Friends may call on Friday, April 21st from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME, INC., 319-24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Honors will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 22nd at Holy Family of Jesus Mary & Joseph Parish (Mt. Carmel), 2486 Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane Klizek officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY, will take place at the convenience of the family.
