Joseph J. Curtis, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Friday, May 5, 2017 at home. He was 49. He was born in Niagara Falls on June 3, 1967, the son of Bonnie Lou (Garrow) Curtis of Lockport and the late Joseph Curtis.
He attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Catholic High School and Niagara County Community College. He received his BA in Marketing from the University of Buffalo. Joseph worked for various businesses in Niagara County as a marketing analyst. He was a member of the former Our Lady of the Rosary R.C. Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister. An avid local sports enthusiast, he was a season ticket holder for the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bandits.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Laureen (Douglas) Chiponis of Lockport; nephews, Michael Chiponis of Batavia and John Chiponis of Lockport; and many dear friends.
Family will be present on Thursday from 3-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Friday at 11:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. John de LaSalle R.C. Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls. Interment will be private in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
In honor of Joseph and his love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the Niagara County S.P.C.A.
