John Esposito of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on April 9th at Niagara Hospice. He was 92. Born in 1923 in Conflenti, Catanzaro, Italy, he was the son of Francesco and Angelina (Scalzo) Esposito.
John worked for the Italian government as a federal agent in the Polizia di Stato in Rome, Italy, for five years. John worked on a number of missions in occupied Italy during and after WWII.
John married Marie (Marasco) Esposito on April 12,1969, in Eveleth, MN. John was a successful businessman in Niagara Falls, owning Esposito Real Estate, as well as other businesses. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the community including the Century Club,Power City Lodge, and the Cristoforo Colombo Society.
John was a champion bocce-ball player, having won many tournaments and championships in New York state and Ontario. John also loved hunting, the outdoors, going to his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa (Monteleone) Esposito in 1967; and also by two infant sons Joseph Esposito in 1957 and Romanus Esposito in 1958.
In addition to his wife of 47 year, Marie, John is survived by five children, Frank Esposito, Dave Esposito (Kate Daly), Mike (Annie) Esposito, Tony (Holley) Esposito, and Lisa Esposito; eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a special niece, Claudia Marasco of Lewiston, NY; two brothers, Achille and Domenico Esposito, both of Calabria, Italy; and a sister, Emma Golinelli, of Naples; and many nieces and nephews in Minnesota and Italy. John's family would like to thank Niagara Hospice for their care and compassion.
There will be no prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street & Independence Ave., Niagara Falls. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice or Our Lady of Fatima Shrine, Youngstown, NY. Arrangements by M.J.
