John Andrew Beltrano, 94, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2016 at his home with his family. John was born on November 26, 1921 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Rose (DiFiore) Beltrano.
John spent his life in Niagara Falls. He graduated from Trott Vocational High School and attended The University of Buffalo and Niagara University. He joined the United States Army and served in China during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1945 and awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. John was employed at E.I. DuPont as a Research and Control Technician until his retirement in 1983. He also owned and operated Beltrano Flooring with his sons for 20 years.
John married the love of his life, Lydia Mistriner, in 1947. They were happily married for 69 years. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight of the Council. John enjoyed basketball and baseball. He was instrumental in forming Cataract Little League Baseball, where he coached his son. Throughout his life, he found his greatest enjoyment being surrounded by his family.
In addition to his loving wife Lydia, John is survived by his children, Barbara (Paul) Sowinski of North Tonawanda, Linda Beltrano of Niagara Falls, Anthony (Penny) Beltrano of Sterling, VA, Karen Beltrano, John Beltrano, both of Niagara Falls, Donna (Jay) Burrell of Ashburn, VA and Paula (Joseph) Casale of Niagara Falls; his grandchildren, Joseph (Meghan), Valerie, Nicole Sowinski, Michael (Michelle), Kelly Lostracco, Jeffery, Ashley (Michael), Courtney (Derek) Beltrano, David (Vanessa), Dawn (Landon), Jennifer (Sam), Jonathan Burrell, Leigha Owen and Dominic Casale, 13 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Guido (Delores) Mistriner of Niagara Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by siblings, Vincent (late Kay) Beltrano, James Beltrano, Louise Beltrano, Mary DePasquale, Susan (late Aram) Asadoorian, Josephine (late Al) Yankelunas and Albert Beltrano; his brother-in-law, Adelio Mistriner; and sister-in-law, Ada (late John) Ventrilla.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Ave., Niagara Falls, NY. Interment with Military Honors in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, PO Box 631 Buffalo, NY 14240.
