Joe Ann's Story
Joe Ann E. Lohnes, 83 of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2017 in Pruitt Health Brookhaven Long Term Care Facility. She was born in Niagara Falls, NY, and later moved to Roswell, Georgia, where she lived for the past 23 years with her family, prior to a short stay at Brookhaven.
Joe Ann was raised and educated in Niagara Falls. She was a member of the graduating class of St. Mary's High School. Joe Ann briefly worked as an office assistant until she married her late husband, Fredrick Lohnes, at St. Mary's Catholic Church and resided in Lewiston. There they raised their family and lived in the same home for 26 years. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Lewiston.
Joe Ann was active in the Niagara Falls Amateur Hockey League where she was a member of the Board of Directors for several years. She was a big sports enthusiast and loved her 'Bills.' Joe Ann later moved to Roswell, Georgia, where she spent time with her grandsons and volunteered at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church where she made many great friends who came to care for and assist her in her later years.
In addition to her late husband, she is survived by a daughter and a son, Colleen E. Lohnes of Tonawanda, NY, and Christopher J. Lohnes (Tonjua) of Roswell, Georgia. Joe Ann had three grandsons she loved very much, Alex Reppenhagen (20), Brandon Lohnes (23) and Brock Lohnes (22).
Joe Ann's family will be present to receive family and friends on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church , 11330 Woodstock Road, Roswell, Georgia 30075, where a Memorial Mass will follow at 1:00 PM.
