James R. Leverentz, age 65, of Sagamore Hills, OH, passed away September 20, 2017 at home. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Lillian and the late Robert Leverentz.
Graduate of Niagara Falls High and Bryant Stratton College. He had a 16 year career in computer programming before moving to Ohio, where he and his wife Eileen opened Leeners Brew Works for 20 years. He was one of the founding fathers and speakers of Ohio Brew Week, author and friend to many.
In addition to his wife, Eileen (nee Norton) of 35 years, James is survived by his brothers, Paul (Gloria Shuster) Leverentz of Sarasota, FL, and William Leverentz of Niagara Falls, NY. He is also survived by his uncles, Fred (June) Secrist, Nels Newman; nephews, Andrew Leverentz, Shane Shuster; nieces, Novia (fiance Joe Frankel) and Noelle Leverentz. He was also predeceased by aunts, Donna (Jim) Harris and Marsha (Leverentz) Newman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 30, 2017 10-11 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2759 Military Rd., Niagara Falls with burial to follow at 11:30 AM - 12 noon at Niagara Falls Memorial Park, 5871 Military Rd., Niagara Falls. A luncheon reception will follow at Pane's Restaurant, 984 Payne Ave., N. Tonawanda, NY.
