James 'Jim''s Story
James 'Jim' Pauline, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Goodyear, AZ, on August 23, 2017. Jim was born in Niagara Falls, NY on February 8, 1953 to Jane Ann (O'Leary) Pauline and Jack Pauline.
He graduated from LaSalle Senior High School and went on to attend SUNY Fredonia. After a long career with Tops Markets, Jim retired to the land of the sun in 2014 where he made a diligent effort to perfect his golf game. He was in his element any time he was able to play, read about, or discuss any sport.
Retirement was cut short by a cancer diagnosis. In spite of the devastating news, Jim was grateful and joyful for the wonderful life he was given and never missed an opportunity to tell those he loved just how much they meant to him.
Jim leaves behind his wife, Deborah (Andersen) Pauline; and his three children, Craig Pauline, Maribeth (Chris) O'Connor, and Casey Pauline. He also leaves brothers, Jack (Susan Penn) Pauline, Long Branch, NJ, Michael Pauline, TX, Chris (Lori) Pauline, Niagara Falls, NY; and mother-in-law, Norma Andersen, San Antonio, TX. He is survived by stepchildren, Heather Mercer, Dallas, TX, Haley (Jake Lohr) Mercer, Leavenworth, KS, Thomas (Tina) Oddy, William (Kathy) Oddy, Karen Oddy, Elizabeth (Oddy) Broomfield, all of Youngstown, NY, and Kindra (Bryan) Lloyd, Austin, TX. Jim was blessed with a granddaughter, Chane Pauline. Jim is also survived by one aunt, Judy Pauline; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, step-grandchildren, and many life-long friends.
A memorial service will be held for Jim on Saturday, September 9, at 10:00 AM, St. John's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Youngstown, NY.
