Helen S. (Sklarski) Deltuva, longtime resident of Niagara Falls and most recently of Glendale, Arizona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at her home. She was 94. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on January 4, 1923, a daughter of the late Marion and Josephine (Syton) Sklarski.
She attended Pennsylvania schools and married Anthony Deltuva in 1943. They remained happily married for 35 years until his passing in 1978.
They moved to Niagara Falls in 1945 and Mrs. Deltuva worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education for 23 years, and after her retirement she volunteered her time at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital, the Hand and Hearts Charity Store and Artpark. She was also involved with many local senior clubs, including Holy Trinity Seniors, Our Lady of Lebanon Seniors, St. Stanislaus Seniors, the Echota Club and the John Duke Center.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Jean (late Robert) Payne of Glendale, Arizona and LuAnn (Ron) Stipp of Williston, Florida; six grandchildren, Anthony Payne of Glendale, AZ, Tim (Scarlet) Payne of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Adams of Glendale, Ronald Stipp of Grand Island, Lauren Stipp of Orlando, Florida, and Karen (Peter) West of Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Perih of Virginia; her brother, Henry Sklarski of Connecticut; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Deltuva (1978); her son-in-law Robert (Jean) Payne; and several brothers and sisters.
Committal prayers will be held Friday at 11 AM in the Chapel at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Lewiston. Burial will follow.
