Harriette Worosz passed away peacefully on May 18 2017, at Beechwood Continuing Care in Getzville, NY, at the age of 76. Born May 8, 1941, in Niagara Falls, NY, Harriette was the daughter of Thomas and Josephine (Mroczek) Worosz, both of whom predeceased her.
Harriette graduated from Fredonia State Teacher's College in 1964 to start her teaching career in Rochester, NY. Two years later, she moved back to Niagara Falls to teach at Lewiston-Porter where she taught for 35 years. The majority of her career was spent teaching 2nd/3rd graders. Her last years at Lewiston Porter were in the Middle School as a member of a five-person team where she taught Language Arts. Sally McCormick, a member of the team says of Harriette, "...team teaching with Harriette was delightful because of her professionalism, her humor, her love of teaching and, most importantly, her love for each student." She was recognized by many parents for her ability to identify a student's reading problem and work to correct it. Harriette approached each student with a personal touch and worked to maximize each student's potential.
Harriette is survived by her brother, Thomas John (Ann Marie) Worosz, Jr. of Zion Crossroads, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Laura (Richard) Malnight, Thomas (Melinda), Paul (Kristen), Kathleen (Jason) Olson, Mary, Theresa, and Philip (Kristen); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on June 17, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Leo Church, 2748 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, followed by burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either the Historic Holy Trinity, part of the Niagara Heritage of Hope and Service at www.historicht.org or to the Hospice of Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd, Cheektowaga, NY 14227.
