Georgina Simmie (Grier) Clare, of the Town of Niagara, died on Monday, July 10, 2017 in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She was 81. She was born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 25, 1935, the daughter of the late David and Rubina (Anderson) Grier. She moved to the United States in 1958.
For many years, she worked for Conbow Company as a bookkeeper. She loved attending to her flower gardens and was a talented crafter. She had painted ceramics, music boxes being a favorite. She also enjoyed freehand needlepoint and cross stitching.
Mrs. Clare enjoyed traveling with her beloved husband of 58 years, Leige J. Clare, for his Navy reunions. She herself also enjoyed the senior bus trips.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Leige J. (Tracy) Clare, Jr., David W. (Donna) Clare and Maureen E. Clare (Rob) Brooks; six grandchildren, Angela Clare (Dennis) Foxvog, David Clare, Jr, Katie Clare (Justin) Struiksma, Whitney Clare (Travis) Jones, Heather Brooks and Melissa Brooks; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Livingstone; a brother, David Grier; and her dear friend, Judy Ambrosia.
Friends may call Saturday after 10 AM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where at 12 Noon, her son, Leige will give a Eulogy in her honor. The interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice.
