Frank's Story

Text size

Frank N. Conde, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late Thomas and Rose (Trapasso) Conde.
Frank attended local schools including Trott Vocational High School. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Marine Corp until his honorable discharge in 1953. On June 25, 1955 he married Marie (Garritano) Conde at St. Joseph's Church. Frank began working at Great Lakes Carbon as a maintenance supervisor for over 35 years. He also served as a Niagara County Legislator for over 19 years and will be remembered as a good, honest person who was less of a politician and more of a citizen who served the community. Frank was also a Chairman for the Department of the Aging and Youth services, as well as the Public Works Department.
Mr. Conde was a longtime member of St. Joseph's Church, where he served as an Eucharistic Minister and usher. He was also a longtime member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Catholic Charities. In recognition for the outstanding services and accomplishments throughout his lifetime, Frank became the recipient of many awards including the Fellowship Award, Pine Avenue Citizens Award, Good Neighbor Award, Legislative Chairman Award and the Black Achievement Award. He was extremely instrumental in the transition of the former Trott Vocational High School to the Trott Access Center, and was influential in the formation of the Niagara Falls School Districts bus shelter.
Above all, Frank's greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he was so proud of and loved dearly. They will remember how everything he did, and everything that came out of his mouth was good, about doing good, or becoming better, or helping someone out.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Frank is survived by his three children, Theresa (Antonio) DiGregorio, Nicholas (Debra) Conde and Rebecca Poletti; four grandchildren, Nina (Michael) DiGregorio-Licata, Anthony Poletti, Matthew Poletti, Nicholas F. Conde and one great-grandchild, Antonio Salvatore Licata. He is also survived by his siblings, Angelo (late Sarah) Conde, Rudolph (late Joan) Conde, Rose Marie (Edwin) McNiff, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Thomas (Rose Marie) Conde, Jr., and one sister, Teresa (Harry) Hardenstine.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 30th from 4 - 8 P.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls. Entombment with Military Honors will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Niagara Hospice.
