Frank E. Antonucci, 93, of Lockport, NY, passed away on June 13, 2017 at Kenmore Mercy Hospital in Town of Tonawanda, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rose (Colosi) Antonucci.
Frank grew up in Niagara Falls and attended local schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School. In 1946, he married Betty (Zollonis) Antonucci in Niagara Falls. Mrs. Antonucci predeceased him in 2004. In 1942, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Army Aircorps where he graduated from Aerial Gunners School. He completed over 60 missions as a bombardier on B-17's during World War 2. He was one of the original 100 enlisted men in the Army Air Corps with 11 ½ years of active service, serving in World War II, Korea, the Berlin Crisis and Vietnam. In addition, Frank served for over 26 years in the reserves, some of which was spent as a security guard at the Niagara Falls Air Base. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 1983. For his service, he earned over 26 Ribbons, 16 Oak Leaf Clusters and 14 Battle Stars. After his military service, he was employed as a security guard at Jenss Department Store in the Summit Park Mall. Frank was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club and the Korean War Veteran's Association.
Mr. Antonucci is survived by four children, Christine Antonucci, Thomas (Susan) Antonucci, Mary Beth (Charlie) Bosco, and Frank Antonucci; six grandchildren, Michael Walaszek, Julie Walaszek, Jason Antonucci, Thomas Antonucci, Nicholas Antonucci, and Lisa (Kevin) Pender; five great-granchildren, Lucas, Ian, Cameron, Riley, and Aiden; one brother, Joseph Antonucci, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Frank was predeceased by one son, John Antonucci, one granddaughter, Michelle Walaszek, and two brothers, Anthony (Dorothy) Antonucci, and Richard (Shirley) Antonucci.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16th from 4 - 8 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 17th at 9:45 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow at White Chapel Memorial Park, 3210 Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14228.
