Eugene's Story

Eugene Joseph Stipp, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Friday, July 6, 2017 at home while receiving care from Niagara Hospice. He was 90. He was born in Scanton, PA on July 3, 1927, a son of Alfred and Katherine (Cunion) Stipp. He, with his family moved to Niagara Falls in 1941. He was a member of the Christian Youth Association, where he met his true love, the former Eleanore Olejniczak. They were happily married for 63 years,

He briefly worked for Nabisco Shredded Wheat, before entering the United States Navy, he served his country proudly during the Second World War. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Nabisco assured him when he was done with his active duty in the Navy, he could resume work at the same position he left. He retired from there in 1983 as a general foreman.

Mr. Stipp was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish (Prince of Peace site) for many years. He loved life and said himself he had a wonderful life. He loved people, at a personal level and those he worked with. He enjoyed cars, playing pinnacle with his sister and was a man of much faith. He was always available and willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanore Stipp; three children, Lois (Stipp) Hall Moore (John) of Southport, NC; Joan (Stipp) Ott (David) of Southport, NC and Mary (Stipp) Ruffes (John) of Niagara Falls; a sister, Muriel Justyk of Niagara Falls; a brother, Gerald "Jerry" Stipp (Virginia "Ginny") of Medina; grandchildren, Andrea Llerena (Nick) of Long Island; Yvonne Mackillop (Todd) of Wilmington, NC; Amber Ruffes and Brad Ruffes both of Niagara Falls; LCPL Madison Hall, USMC; great grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Mackillop; Brody Michael Mackillop; Brooklyn Olivia Abibigail Douglas and Ford Alexander Llerena; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Autumn Rae.

Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, where prayers will be said Thursday 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace. The entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
