Edward Nemetz, age 77 of Wheatfield, NY entered into rest peacefully after a lengthy illness at his residence, while under the care of his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria (Pfahlert) Nemetz, and Niagara Hospice. Born in Taylor, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Nemetz.
Ed was a U.S. Marine veteran, employed at the G.M. Power train plant in Tonawanda, until his retirement, was a member of the Hyde Park Golf Course, and was an avid bowler and golfer.
Besides his wife, other survivors include two children, Charles Nemetz and Charlene (Jason) DenHaese; six grandchildren, Jason Paul, Summer, Chloe, Luke, Blake and Brody; two sisters, Anna Mae (Anthony) DiNoto and Theresa (Edward) Milczarski; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Nemetz; and two sisters, Madelyn Berasi and Veronica Smith.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Tuesday, March 21 at 12:00 noon, at St. John deLaSalle Church, 8477 Buffalo Avenue. The family request that friends join with them for a luncheon following the mass, in the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Center, directly behind the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice. Honoring Ed's wishes, his body was donated to the University of Buffalo. There will be no prior visitation.
