Edson David's Story
Edson David Martin, 76, of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 13, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. David was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York, and was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
In his younger years, David traveled to his mother's birthplace in Belfast, Northern Ireland, as well as traveling to the British Isles, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. He had been an active member of Niagara River Masonic Lodge No. 785 F&AM for 31 years, where he held many positions, including serving two terms as Master. He received his Distinguished Service Award and Apron while there.
He also belonged to Niagara-LaSalle No. 132 F&AM and was active in the Eastern Star. David was the Secretary for Chapter 200 Royal Arch Masons and the Recorder for Niagara Commandry 64, Knights Templar. In addition, he was also Past High Priest Royal Arch Masons RAM No. 200 and District 16 Historian for the Grand Lodge of New York. He was an associate member of Quatuor Coronati Lodge No. 2076 of the Grand Lodge of England & Wales located in London, England. Quatuor Coronati is the world's premier research lodge for the Masons. On a local level, he volunteered much of his time to assist with the Masonic ID program.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edson J. and Gladys (Adams) Martin of Niagara Falls; as well as his brother, Douglas F. Martin of Glen Aubrey, New York.
David is survived by his sister, Mary Beth (Richard) Hayes of Palm Bay, Florida. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 11, at 2 PM at Niagara River Masonic Lodge No. 785, 1001 South Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
