Darrow H.'s Story
Darrow H. Holler, 84, born on October 2,1931 of North Tonawanda passed away on August 23, 2016 at the Sheridan Manor, Tonawanda NY, quietly in the night.
Darrow served in the US Navy during the Korean War (1953-1955). He was known as "The Plumber" during his 30 years working at the Niagara Falls Airbase and Lockport Radar Airbase before retiring to Clymer, NY. He was a lifetime member of VFW #7545 Tonawanda, VFW #264 Corry, PA and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and being with family and friends.
Darrow is survived by wife of 44 years, Elaine (Backshall-Wright, Dodsworth); his sons, William and Kenneth (Kathy) Holler; adopted daughter, Kathleen Hedges; his step daughters, Terry King and Lynnor (Randall) Printup; stepson, Jerry (Shirley) Wright and their daughter, Darlene (Andrew) Bolsover; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Darrow was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Minnie (Kaiser); wife, Caroline (Dawes); brother, Fredrick; sister, Louis and family, Robert Postle husband to surviving sister June.
Darrow gave in death, as he gave in life, it was his decision to donate his body so others may benefit. There will be family and friends gathering to raise our glasses one last time in Holler's honor at VFW #7545, 110 Elgin St., Tonawanda, NY 14150 on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, from 4:30-7:00 PM.
