Catherine E. Pizzimenti, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Grace (Marra) Pizzimenti.
Catherine was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls and graduate of Niagara Falls High School. From 1945 until 1948 she worked at the Niagara Falls Boys Club as a secretary to the late Floyd Field. She was then employed as an executive secretary at the Union Carbide Corp. from 1948 until retiring in 1983. In 1967 she earned a CPS rating (Certified Professional Secretary) and in 1968 she was the recipient of the Secretary of the Year award from the Niagara Falls Chapter of Professional Secretaries International.
Catherine was a member of the Union Carbide Retirees. She was also a longtime devoted member of Prince of Peace Church as well as their Altar and Rosary Society, St. Joseph Church's Children of Mary Sodality, the Council of Catholic Women and St. John De LaSalle Senior Club. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, completing crossword puzzles, baking and entertaining friends at home.
Catherine is survived by two sisters, Gloria C. McNitt and Grace M. (Richard) Owczarzak; one brother, Joseph A. (Irene) Pizzimenti; her nieces and nephews, Joseph W. Pizzimenti, Christopher A. Owczarzak, Lawrence P. (Jura) Owczarzak, David G. (Rhonda) Pizzimenti, Karen V. Pizzimenti and Rebecca (Denis) Owczarzak; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony P. (late Marie) Pizzimenti and infant Joseph Pizzimenti; one sister, Mary Pizzimenti; and her uncle, Joseph Marra.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3-7 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, January 14th at 10 AM at St. Vincent De Paul at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Jeff Nowak officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
