Carmel's Story

Carmel Mae (Persia) Farrugia, 95, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. She was born in Thorold, Ontario, Canada.
While living in Canada, Carmel worked for Kimberly-Clark paper products and after moving to Niagara Falls, NY in 1950 she worked for several years in the kitchen at the Como Restaurant. Carmel enjoyed crocheting, word search puzzles and working in her garden. Mrs. Farrugia was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Farrugia.
Carmel is survived by her three children, Joseph (Diane) Farugia, Charlene (fiance' Joseph Paonessa) Veres and Carmel A. Farrugia; two sisters, Laura Cheevers and Eleanor Condotta; four grandchildren, Shawn, Philip, Jason and Jennifer. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by four siblings, Mary Trunzo, Ralph Persia, Leo Persia and Raymond Persia; and son-in-law, Chuck Veres.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 3-8 PM at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Tuesday, June 14th at 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Rd., Niagara Falls, NY. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.
