Bishop John's Story
Bishop John Douglas Stewart, Sr. entered into rest on Tuesday, February 22, 2017 in Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness. Born in Clarkville, TN, the second son of the late John William and Juanita (nee Bertram) Stewart.
John graduated from Collinwood High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Following graduation, he attended Light House Ministry and became pastor of Holyness Church of Deliverance in Cleveland. In 1973, John moved to Niagara Falls, New York and started working for Union Carbide. After two years he started his career with DuPont, retiring in 2004. Following retirement, Bishop John started Good Shepard Temple, 820 Hyde Park Blvd, Niagara Falls.
John is survived by his children, James, John Daryl, Tina Wisdom, John D. (Shannon) Jr., Johnathan W., Evelyn Valerie, Rachaeal Stewart-Johnson, Jacob Abraham, Shane, Ericka (Garey) Clarke, James Griffin, Herbert Griffin, Phillip Griffin, Melissa Stewart, and the late Demario Stewart; adopted children, Taylia Stewart and John Paul Johnson; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his only brother, Leroy Stewart.
The family will be present from 10 AM-12 PM on Saturday, March 4th at Good Shepard Temple, 820 Hyde Park Blvd., Niagara Falls, NY, where services will follow at 12 PM. Interment will take place in Roane Memorial Gardens, Rockwood, TN. Arrangements by ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC., 319 24th Street, cor. of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
