Alberta's Story

Alberta Byrd passed away on April 27, 2016 in Buffalo General Hospital. Alberta was born on April 26, 1931 in Vero Beach, FL, one of ten children born to Charlie and Lula Mae (Furlow) Bristol. Alberta worked for the Niagara County Headstart as a nutritionist for 30 years retiring in 1999. She was the wife the late Alto L. Byrd, Jr. who passed away April 18, 1999.
She was the mother of Raymond L. Byrd of Lockport, Kenny A. Byrd of Buffalo, Brenda (Errol) Molltrie, Sylvia Byrd both of California, Sharon (Barry) Bynes, Judy Byrd, both of Lockport, Alto (Janet) Byrd III of Niagara Falls, Tyrone Curtis Byrd of Lockport, Patricia LaRocque of Buffalo, Alisa Byrd, Anita Byrd, both of Lockport, Paul Byrd and the late Edward Byrd; grandmother of twenty-two, step grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of eleven and step-great-grandmother of nine. Alberta is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, May 4, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, NY and Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 10-11 AM in the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness, 352 Ontario Street, Lockport, NY, followed immediately with services at 11 AM.
