William Frederick Barteck, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was 85. He was born in Niagara Falls, the son of Frederick and Ellen McGuire Barteck.
He served his country proudly in the US Navy during the Korean War. Following his service, he was employed by the Laborers Local 91 and retired from E. I. DuPont following 35 years of employment. William was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved canoeing. He especially enjoyed the fun family times spent at their cabin in the southern tier.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vera M. (Moore); children, Michael (Lisa) Barteck of Rochester; Kim (John) Lagomaggiore of Niagara Falls; a sister, Suellen (Robert) Finnegan of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Brian (Breanna) Lagomaggiore, Gina Petts, Cathleen (Daniel) Penque; great-grandchildren, Madison, Zoey and Collin Petts, Hannah and Noah Penque; and a nephew, Michael (Sheila) Finnegan. He was predeceased by two sons, Timothy and Donald Barteck.
No prior visitation. Private services with Military Honors will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements by the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice, Inc.
