William Thomas Armstrong, of North Tonawanda, died on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at home. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on April 1, 1930, a son of the late Ralph and Inez (Eggler) Armstrong. William served his country proudly in the US Army in the Infantry and will be buried with Military Honors.
He worked as an over the road truck driver for several companies including Freezer Queen Frozen Foods, National Cylinder Gas, Napa and Pensky Trucking. He retired at the age of 76 after 40 years. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and read.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred C. Armstrong on November 25, 2000. Survived by four children, Andrew Armstrong of Niagara Falls, Mary Fera and Ralph Armstrong, both of North Tonawanda and Kenneth (Diana) Armstrong of Tonawanda; three sisters, Luella Armstrong and Wilma Kitchen, both of Lockport, Gloria (Tom) McDonald of Middleport; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Audrey Purgarich.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton, NY. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC. is handling the arrangements.
