William 'Uncle Toe''s Story
William 'Uncle Toe' Sanders Sr., 81, of Niagara Falls, NY was called home to rest on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Niagara Hospice of Northgate Manor in North Tonawanda, NY. Born on January 12, 1936 in Alabama to the late Kaleb and Julia Sanders.
William moved to Niagara Falls, NY, where he married the late Thomasena A. Sanders.
William had a love for antique cars, western movies, sports and snapping his fingers to good music. He was best known for his dapper style and fashionable hats. In his later years, he enjoyed attending St. John's A.M.E.'s Chat 'n Chew lunch program.
William held various jobs, including United Taxi Cab and Niagara Community Center.
William is survived by his daughters, Bertha Wallace of St. Stephens, SC and Christina Sanders-Gulley of Niagara Falls, NY.; sons, William Sanders of St. Catherine's, ON., David (Cindy) Sanders and Ralph Wallace, both of Niagara Falls, NY and Billy Sanders of Rochester, NY. He also had 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lexie and Eula Sanders; and a host of relatives and friends.
William was preceded in death by a daughter, Priscilla Ann Wallace; brothers, Kaleb, Cleveland and Frank; sisters, Alberta 'Dot" Clark, Savannah Harris-Mixon and Willie Lee Ward.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Potter's House CCC, 723 7th Street at 1 PM.
