It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Jackson on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Riverbend Crossing Memory Care Home, with her husband and granddaughter, Caitlin, at her side. Wanda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Wanda spent a lovely childhood in Niagara Falls, ON and was married to Gordon Stuart Jackson of Niagara Falls on June 3 1950. After marriage, Wanda and Gordon moved to Toronto, where Wanda worked as a secretary for a customs broker until 1953. A year later, when they moved to Scarborough, while raising two children, she volunteered extensively for the Canadian Red Cross helping with, and then managing, blood donor clinics. After a large move to Regina in late 1968 she first volunteered, then worked as the Director of Assistance International and Domestic Aid for the Canadian Red Cross.
She was a talented craftsperson creating many beautiful keepsakes for family and friends. Wanda liked to entertain and hosted many elegant meals for their circle of friends. In her 70's Wanda developed Alzheimer's and for the past 1 1/2 years has resided at Riverbend Crossing.
She was predeceased by her mother, Fanny Jewell Miner; sister, Shirley Taylor; and her only son Scott Gordon Jackson.
Wanda is survived by her husband of 67 years, Gordon; daughter, Melissa Ann Jackson (Gordon Gray); three granddaughters, Meghan Elizabeth House (Phil Simm), Caitlin Anne House, and Allyson Sarah Jackson Gray; as well as one great-granddaughter, Philippa Margaret Simm.
A memorial service will be held at Riverbend Crossing Memory Care Home, 2235 Heseltine Road, Regina, SK on Thursday October 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM. everyone is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Wanda may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301, 2550 - 12 Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
