Saturna Cindy's Story
Saturna 'Cindy' Williams, 69, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Campobasso, Italy, she was the loving daughter of the late Angelo and Assunta (Frosolone) Colavecchia.
Cindy moved to Niagara Falls with her family at the age of seven. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1966. On September 19, 1970, she married her cherished husband, Paul Williams, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Cindy was employed at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center until pursuing her career in Catholic education. She began working as a secretary at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and later became the Assistant Development Director at Niagara Catholic High School. Most recently, Cindy was employed at Catholic Academy as a teaching assistant.
Cindy was actively involved with several fundraising functions at Niagara Catholic including the annual basket auction and golf tournament. In her leisure time, she enjoyed cooking and tending to her garden; but above all, she especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, Cindy is survived by her two daughters, Tina (Tom) Rodriguez and Angela (James) VanEgmond; four grandchildren, Jackson, Reyes, James, and Brayden; one brother, Frank (Laura) Colavecchia; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 3-8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, where funeral services will begin on Friday at 9:15 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
