Roxanne (Mt. Pleasant) Johnson, 65, of the Tuscarora Indian Nation, and member of the Beaver Clan, passed away on November 24, 2016 in Schoellkopf Health Care Facility. Born in Lewiston, NY, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Mary 'Mickey' Mt. Pleasant.
Roxanne was a lifelong resident of the Tuscarora Nation. She attended Tuscarora Indian School and graduated from Niagara Wheatfield High School in 1969. In 1966, Roxanne was elected Tuscarora Indian Princess. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and was a passionate animal lover, especially of her beloved dog, Sam. She also loved playing pool, winning several trophies and tournaments throughout the area. Roxanne enjoyed her job at Hank's Smoke Shop, but most of all, loved her children and grandchildren.
Roxanne is survived by her three children, Shannon (Tim) MacCallum, Ross (Sheila Terrana) Johnson, Jr. and Ryan (Sheena Chrysler) Johnson; four grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, Collin and Emily; her sister and brothers, Charlene Welker, James (Jeri) Mt. Pleasant, Thomas Mt. Pleasant, Roger (Elaine) Mt. Pleasant and William (Terri) Mt. Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by four sisters, Barb Van Every- Robinson, Carrie Beaver, Alberta 'Sal' Johnson and Martha Abel.
Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where a prayer service will be held at 6:00 PM with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will be held in Mt. Hope Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
